Disaster averted! Drink served with, let's less just say "unexpected content"...initial response not satisfactory, but eventually made right. Thanks Susan & Samantha! It was the right thing to do, and worth it to salvage 45 yrs. old plus relationship! Still love this staple of the Franklin/Somerset community! Waite staff and management are the best in the food services business!
We stopped in for a breakfast before getting on the road. I had a classic, short stack of pancakes and sausage. It DID NOT disappoint.
This 24 hour diner sits in a convenient location with lots of indoor seating and a large parking area. The diner had a perfect spin of a classic diner feel with with a more modern take. The service was very fast and food was great. As a college student, I appreciated the student discount and reasonable prices! Our food was out within ten minutes of ordering it and our server was very attentive. This definitely helped elevate our dining experience. The menu had many options including breakfast all day. The kitchen did a great job of making sure the Gluten Free options were safe for my friend who is Gluten Sensitive. Overall it was a great experience, and we look forward to coming back very soon.
Five stars is my updated review for this iconic New Jersey Diner that's always open. The staff makes this diner awesome! They've been exceptionally thoughtful and energetic at all hours of the night, including when I come in for 3:30 a.m. breakfast. I'm a night owl by nature and being with my flock here truly puts me in a good mood. This diner is the perfect place for hearty home style food, fresh brewed coffee, and people like me who feel their best in the middle of the night.

We've never had a bad meal here. It's one of our stops when travelling thru NJ. It had been 10 years since I had their Three Little Pigs in a Blanket. I was barely able to finish it back then. I recently ordered it again and forgot how it was A LOT OF FOOD. Be prepared to take a nap after that meal. My wife had the Cheeseburger Deluxe with Peppers and Onions for breakfast, as she does not really like sweet things as breakfast items - except for a good danish! I was coming back from Starland and my usual route was closed, meaning I wasn't going to pass by my usual diner. I vowed to stop at the first place open going home the other way, and I saw Somerset Diner appear to be open. Somerset Diner is 24 hours. Automatic star. On inside this traditional diner, served the traditional way - owner? or manager gets you seated, server eventually comes by and you order everything, you get everything, and whatever unique things you want are part of this. Fortunately for them, I had nothing unique about my order, the pancake special with Taylor ham. (They use the correct terminology. Automatic star.) Now, the portions were quite undersized for the price, and I see people here note that the price isn't great, so we'll call that an automatic star deduction. Still, it's fresh made, very tasty, and I turned my pancakes into sandwiches (plus egg and meat) and made a solid meal out of it. Would I automatically stop here again? No, I want to preserve my wallet, but then again I'm usually not a diner guy. If someone said meet here, I would do it and tap into some more menu options (like that fried mixer.
